H.E. Mr Scott Dewar commenced his role as Australian Ambassador to China in January 2024. Before taking up this position, he served as Deputy Secretary, International and Security, in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

H.E. Mr Dewar has previously held roles in the Department of Defence and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has also worked in the Office of the Prime Minister and the Office of the Minister for Defence. His previous diplomatic postings include Seoul and Beijing, as well as serving as Consul-General in Honolulu.

H.E. Mr Dewar is a graduate of the University of Melbourne and holds a master’s degree from Monash University. He is married and has three adult sons.
