Event | Call For Foreign Policy White Paper Public Submissions

01-24-17 @ 9:00 am - 02-17-17 @ 6:00 pm

AustCham Beijing’s call for comments on the
Australian Government’s Foreign Policy White Paper

AustCham Beijing is seeking recommendations from members on:
how the Australian Government can better support Australian businesses with regards to its Foreign Policy in China.

In August 2016, Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, The Hon Julie Bishop announced the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) would prepare a Foreign Policy White Paper. This will be Australia’s first white paper devoted to foreign policy since 2003, and is due to be released in the second half of 2017. The new strategy will look at international challenges, threats and the opportunities to ensure Australia has an effective foreign policy that represents and advances the interests of Australians in the changing global environment.

DFAT is seeking submissions and AustCham Beijing intends on representing members’ views through its submission. Members are encouraged to voice any issues they feel deserving of policy attention in China-Australia relations.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade plays an important role as an Australian Government Department that aims to promote and protect Australia’s interests internationally and contribute to global stability and economic growth.
