On 28 March 2026, AustCham China successfully hosted the inaugural Shaping Tomorrow: Australian University Alumni Masterclass & Dialogue at Jinshang Yuan in Beijing.
2026年3月28日，中国澳大利亚商会在北京金尚源成功举办了首场“领创·未来——澳大利亚大学校友领导力大师课”。
The event brought together Australian university alumni and Australia-connected professionals, providing a distinctive platform that moved beyond conventional networking or lectures.
本次活动汇聚了澳大利亚大学校友及与澳大利亚有紧密联系的专业人士，打造了一个超越传统社交或讲座形式的独特平台。
Our core objective was not to present a success story, but to facilitate a real conversation about leadership, judgement, and the non-linear nature of career development.
我们的核心目标并非讲述成功故事，而是围绕领导力、判断力以及职业发展的非线性特征，促成一场坦诚而真实的对话。
Why this initiative matters
为什么这一倡议很重要
The inaugural session was led by Zhiqiang Zhang, who drew on more than three decades of senior executive and board-level experience, including 22 years as a China CEO.
首场大师课由张志强先生主讲。他结合自己逾三十年的高管及董事会层面经验，其中包括22年担任中国区首席执行官的经历，分享了深刻见解。
Rather than presenting a tidy narrative of progress, ZZ spoke about leadership as it is really shaped — by judgement, mistakes, timing, responsibility, difficult people decisions, and the environments in which careers unfold.
ZZ并没有将领导力描绘成一帆风顺的进步历程，而是分享了它最真实的一面：由判断、失误、时机、责任、艰难的人事抉择以及职业发展环境共同塑造。
The event’s format, combining a structured masterclass, moderated dialogue and audience Q&A, created a thoughtful and practical setting for participants at different life and career stages.
本次活动采用“大师课 + 主持对谈 + 现场问答”的形式，为处于不同人生和职业阶段的参与者，营造了一个既深思又务实的交流氛围。

AustCham China envisions this as the beginning of a meaningful, ongoing platform for leadership development and community building among Australia-connected professionals in China.

We were honoured that His Excellency Scott Dewar, Australian Ambassador to China, joined the final part of the afternoon, reflecting his support for the initiative and the professional community.
