TGA recognises two more COVID-19 vaccines not registered in Australia but used widely internationally

1 November 2021:

Good news in relation to traveling to Australia! On November 1st, the TGA determined that Covaxin (manufactured by Bharat Biotech, India) and BBIBP-CorV (manufactured by Sinopharm, China) vaccines would be ‘recognised’ for the purpose of establishing a traveller’s vaccination status.

This means that fully vaccinated citizens of China and India, as well as other countries in the region where these vaccines have been widely deployed, will now be considered fully vaccinated to entry to Australia without the need to quarantine.

AustCham China has been advocating for broader recognition and welcomes the changes, which will allow for simple entry into Australia for those abroad.
