AustCham China’s headquarters in Beijing is proud to engage young professionals in a variety of different positions and exposing them to the diverse opportunities within the Australia-China relationship. Many of our past interns have gone on to secure full-time positions at AustCham or high-level careers at one of our member companies and various other organisations within the Australia-China space. We encourage our team members to participate at a professional level in numerous roles within the Chamber of Commerce.

At our office in Beijing employees are given the opportunity to work alongside a passionate and innovative team dedicated to assisting companies doing business in China. Interns are immersed in an environment dealing with a membership of well accomplished Australian business leaders in China. The organisation is governed by a Board of Directors representing some of Australia’s leading companies in the region.

Internship Opportunities

Expected Basic Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Chinese and English communication and writing
  • Familiarity with Microsoft suite (excel, word, ppt, email)
  • Basic understanding of Australia-China relations and its business environment
  • Proficiency with Chamber related operation such as CRM systems, web development (wordpress) and graphic design is preferrable

Working Method:

  • Interns are encouraged to work in-person at our office in Beijing; possibilities for remote work may be discussed following an interview.

Event Planning and Management

Status: available

The intern will directly engage in all matters pertaining to event planning, promotion, execution, and follow through, as well as assisting in other Chamber work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create bilingual graphics, brochures, and signage pertaining to event promotion and enhancement
  • Produce bilingual email campaigns and social media text pertaining to event promotion and review
  • Liaise in event planning, exectution, and follow-up
  • Manage CRM systems for event registration and event finance
  • Engage in pre-event organization, including logistics & venue, vendor and caterer RSVP
  • Coordinating with marketing staff for promotion of events
  • Participate in on-site event execution, including set up, guest management and clean up
  • Maintain event documents related to logistics and finance
  • Assist membership and marketing staff on all matters related to events
  • Fulfill marketing commitments to AustCham’s members

Membership and External Relations

Status: available

The intern will directly engage in all matters pertaining to membership rentention and growth, represent the the Chamber in public settings, as well as assisting in other Chamber work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create bilingual graphics and brochures pertaining to membership promotion
  • Represent AustCham at domestic events, including but not limited to exhibitions, briefings and forums
  • Maintain membership services related to member benefits and advocacy
  • Ensure member retention and expansion through meetings, marketing, and personal engagement
  • Record and uphold membership-related finance and documentation
  • Liaise in all membership-related event logistics such as sponsorship and event invitations
  • Assist events and marketing staff on all matters related to membership
