Personal data protection, privacy rights and network and cyber security have become increasingly important issues to pay attention to in China due to recent regulatory changes and compliance requirements.
近来的监管变化和合规要求使个人数据保护、隐私权以及网络安全在中国成为日益重要、亟待关注的问题。
Following the enactment of China’s Cyber Security Law on 1 June 2017, China has undergone rapid development in regards to its data privacy and cyber security legal framework, with legislators continuously introducing new laws and regulations, including most recently China’s first Civil Code (which was issued on 28 May 2020, and will come into force on 1 January 2021), as well as a draft Data Security Law (which was issued for public comment on 3 July 2020).
自2017年6月1日中国的《网络安全法》颁布以来，中国的数据隐私和网络安全法律框架经历了迅速发展。立法者接连公布新的法律法规，其中包括最近的中国第一部《民法典》（于2020年5月28日发布，并将于2021年1月1日生效），以及《数据安全法》草案（在2020年7月3日发布并公开征求意见）。
Furthermore, the authorities have recently stepped up enforcement by conducting a number of campaigns and investigations in relation to personal data protection breaches, directed in particular at mobile App operators. While the regulatory changes are bringing China more in line with international standards with regards to data privacy and cyber security, it has also meant that companies operating in China are at greater risk of non-compliance.

Companies in China are therefore starting to form internal company policies on data privacy, cyber security and data leakages, as well as introduce or improve their IT systems and measures to ensure strong network security and prevent the disclosure or leakage of data.

Thomas has 18 years of experience in the IT industry and focuses on IT advisory, information security & compliance, cloud, internal process / procedure control, and other IT related fields. Thomas is a member of ISACA and has held a CISA certificate for many years. He is also a member of ISC2 with CISSP and CCSP certificates. Besides recently obtaining DPO(Data Protection Officer) and CDPSE (Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer) certificates which are both focused on the privacy and compliance area, Thomas also holds various other IT professional qualifications including Microsoft 365 Security Administration, CCNP, MCSE, and MCDBA.
