Post Event Update | China-Australia Education Industry Forum

On November 25, AustCham Beijing’s China-Australia Education Industry Forum will be held in Swissotel Beijing. It is an event held annually to promote collaboration, engagement and partnerships across the China-Australia education industry sector.

This year the Forum will host an address on recent changes and initiatives in Chinese education policy making, providing insights into Chinese education sector international collaboration opportunities. The event will feature two keynote speakers on Chinese policy and international education cooperation opportunities, followed by a Roundtable discussion on the effects of changing policy landscape on various schools sectors, as well as promotion of transition pathways from secondary and tertiary education. The Forum will also include opening remarks by Ms. Katherine Vickers, Minister Counsellor (Education & Research), Australian Embassy.

Representatives across Australian and Chinese schools sectors – from early childhood, middle and high school, to higher education, as well as other key stakeholders in the education industry including education consultants and advisors will participate.

The Forum will be followed by AustCham November Aussie Drinks with the Griffith Business School @ Swissotel Beijing.

Featured speakers:

Dr. Jianhui Xiong

Dr. Jianhui Xiong is a Research Specialist at the National Education Development and Research Centre, Ministry of Education. He will be giving an update on the Chinese education policymaking.

Dr. Xiong’s expertise lies mainly on macro education policy, international comparative education, global education governance, education internationalisation, informatisation, specialisation and integrated strategic research. He has published over 100 research papers and periodicals on international education.

Ms. Maria Wu

Ms. Maria Wu is the Assistant Principal of Beijing No.35 High School and Director of College Counselling Center in the International Department. She also served as the Senior Teacher, National Secondary Psychological Consultant, TESOL Certified Teacher, Member of OACAC(Overseas Association for College Admission Counseling)&IACAC in the USA, Education USA Certified Counsellor.

Panel Moderator

Ms. Juliet London

Juliet is an education consultant with particular experience in international education. Originally from the UK, she spent 17 years in Australia, before moving to Hong Kong and then Beijing, where she has been based for the past five years.

Working directly for clients and in collaboration with EduWorld, a global education marketing consultancy, Juliet has worked for international schools, universities and VET providers, the private sector, government and national and international organisations. She recently conducted research to help determine AIE 2025, the Australian Government’s international education strategy.
