Australia set to benefit from leadership in battery industry

Australia and China will become the global leaders in the booming 850 billion AUS-Dollar battery industry, according to a recent report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF).

Released in early November, the report predicts that China and Australia are two of nine leading countries that will represent two third of the global battery demand by 2040. China is forecast to overtake the battery storage market in 2020s, and continue its dominance till 2040.

BNEF also finds an rapid growth of the global battery demand, as prices could fall to its half by 2040, which could stimulate an increasing consumption of wind and solar energies.
