AustCham China’s Welcome Dinner for His Excellency Mr Scott Dewar, Australian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, wrapped up successfully on the evening of 16 April 2024 at Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing. We would like to thank all our attendees for making the evening one to remember.

A big thank you goes to the Australian Embassy in Beijing for facilitating this event, and also to Ambassador Dewar for directly engaging with the Australia-China business community – both through his address, and in the Q&A with AustCham Chair Vaughn Barber.

The event would not have been possible without our generous sponsors, including Diamond sponsors Avocados Australia and King & Wood Mallesons, wine sponsors WestSide & Rymill Coonawarra, Gold sponsor Sino Gas & Energy, and Bronze sponsors Beijing City International School (BCIS) and Axis Group.

We were honoured to have Sue Kench, Global Chief Executive of King & Wood Mallesons, and John Tyas, CEO of Avocados Australia, as our guest speakers on the evening. Their warm speeches provided an excellent welcome to Ambassador Dewar, and set the stage for what we’re sure will be a fantastic tenure.

Paired with a four-course meal, the dinner commenced with a speech from AustCham China CEO Alex Whitebrook and a beautfiful instrumental performance of the song “Iron Blood and Loyal Heart” by the talented students of Haileybury International School Beijing. Thank you again to Haileybury, an AustCham Foundation Member, for their constant support.

AustCham’s mission is to connect, inform, and advocate on behalf of the Australia-China business community, a mission that was evident during the event.

We are more than just a chamber of commerce, we are a platform for creating lasting relationships, sharing valuable insights, and making a positive impact on the broader Australia-China relationship.

There has never been a better time to be a part of AustCham, and I would like to extend a warm invitation for members of the Australia-China business community to become more involved with the Chamber.

We encourage you to familiarise yourself with AustCham’s benefits of membership, to join us at our upcoming events, and to follow our social media channels for the latest updates and opportunities to connect.
