Vaughn Barber 冯栢文

Vaughn joined KPMG in Hong Kong from Australia in 1996 and became a partner in July 2000. After working in Hong Kong for nearly 15 years, Vaughn moved to Beijing and became Head of Outbound for KPMG China in 2011. He served as Asia Pacific Regional Leader, Deal Advisory M&A Tax Services from August 2009 to June 2015. Vaughn was a key member of the leadership team of the Global China Practice since its inception and was appointed Global Chair in July 2015. Vaughn also served as Co-Head of Infrastructure for KPMG China from July 2015 until September 2021.

During his career, Vaughn worked with Chinese state-owned and privately-owned companies to complete many landmark overseas acquisitions. Vaughn was frequently listed as one of the leading tax advisers in Hong Kong, was a member and Vice Chairman of the International Fiscal Association, Hong Kong branch and a member of The Joint Liaison Committee on Taxation. In 2019, Vaughn was part of the leadership team that bid for, won, and delivered the China Infrastructure Program, a GBP10m Official Development Assistance (ODA) Program under the UK’s Prosperity Fund.

Vaughn obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Queensland in 1992. He is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Vaughn has been active in the China-Australia Chamber of Commerce (AustCham) since joining the board in June 2013. Vaughn lives in Beijing with his wife Gillii and daughter Emily.
