Ball on the Wall 2024

Beijing’s social scene was abuzz with excitement this past weekend as the highly anticipated AustCham “Ball on the Wall” made a grand comeback, marking its first return since 2021. The prestigious event attracted over 400 distinguished guests, including dignitaries and business leaders, reaffirming its status as one of the most anticipated gatherings on the Beijing calendar.

The 2024 Ball on the Wall, held literally on the Great Wall at Juyong Pass, was a night of elegant socializing and joyous celebration. The Great Wall, a symbol of China’s rich heritage, provided a breathtaking setting for an event that bridged cultures and celebrated international cooperation. Attendees were treated to a night of refined dining, vibrant entertainment, and lively conversations against this historic backdrop.

AustCham China Chair, Vaughn Barber, remarked during his opening speech, “We’re happy the bilateral relationship between Australia and China is back on track; and what better setting to celebrate the contributions that the companies and people present tonight have made across all facets of the bilateral relationship, than here at Juyong Pass.”

The highlight of this year’s Ball on the Wall was the celebration of the much-anticipated return of Australian wine and beef to the Chinese market. The event not only served as a platform for reconnecting with old friends and making new acquaintances but also as a symbol of the strengthening trade relations between Australia and China. Guests savored exquisite Australian culinary delights, showcasing the high quality and diverse offerings now available to Chinese consumers.

In addition to the culinary highlights, the Ball on the Wall featured an array of entertainment, including live music performances, dances numbers, opera, prize giveaway and a charity auction.

As the evening drew to a close, it was clear that the AustCham Ball on the Wall had once again solidified its place as a premier event in Beijing’s social calendar. The success of this year’s gathering was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the AustCham team and the unwavering support of the community.

With the Ball on the Wall’s triumphant return, AustCham China extends its heartfelt thanks to all those who attended and the team looks forward to the next Ball on the Wall, to continue celebrating the rich tapestry of international relations, culture, and friendship here in Beijing.
