About the Bombers
The Beijing Bombers are the sole Australian Rules Football team in Beijing, made up largely of ex-pat Australians keen to pursue and help grow this great game while abroad. The Bombers were formed in 2003 when 12 guys travelled to Shanghai for the first encounter against the Shanghai Tigers. The Bombers have occasional intra-club matches and also play the odd international rules match against the Beijing Gaelic club when the Irish can find the numbers.
Training is on every weekend at BCIS. Training is open to anyone regardless of age or ability. If you would like to come along send the Bombers an email to confirm the training time. The Bombers are also working on getting a junior Auskick program going and are involved with development of the game via partnerships with Melbourne Football, the AFL, the City of Melbourne and local institutions.
The Bombers have regular events going on. The first Beijing AFL (BAFL) Season took place in 2009, with the final round for the season on Sunday 18 October. Congratulations to the Santa Fe Saints on their victory!

AustCham Beijing & the Beijing Bombers
AustCham Beijing is the proud sponsor of the Beijing Bombers. We co-host several events with the team throughout the year including the launch of the AFL season and the highlight of the AFL sporting year, a screening of the Grand Final match in late September each year (September 26, 2009).
Tuesday 16 June 2009, One Night Only: Kevin Sheedy
| While the special guest was unable to make this function due to freak weather conditions in China, a great night was had with all present at a special function at the Australian Embassy for Kevin Sheedy. We had Sheedy live on the phone from Shanghai airport, MC'd by Stephen McDonell (ABC), and a great raffle with prizes from Elders Ltd, The Wine Republic and Hilton Beijing. It was a great opportunity to support the development of Australian Rules Football in China. | Right: Bomber's Matt Bahen (The Wine Republic) and Stephen McDonell (ABC) announce winners from the raffle. |
